Liberal Democratic Party approves bill to introduce ''Japanese version of DBS'' in principle. Bill will allow employers to inquire about their sexual offense records for 20 years after the end of the sentence if the sentence is imprisonment or higher.

The government intends to submit the bill to the Diet as soon as the ruling party's procedures are completed. The criminal records that are subject to inquiries are not limited to criminal offenses, but also violations of ordinances such as voyeurism, and the targets are not only newly hired people.
