In Guinea-Bissau, the PAI – Terra Ranka coalition, led by the PAIGC party, won 54 seats out of 102 in Parliament, an absolute majority. The party of the country's president, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, Madem, won 29 seats.

According to the Constitution, the party that obtains a majority in Parliament automatically obtains the post of Prime Minister. The coalition should experience cohabitation with a Prime Minister from the ranks of thePAIGC, says Bineta Diagne.
