Moroccan King Mohammed VI has ordered the adoption of the Amazigh New Year. The holiday will be similar to that of the Islamic year and the New Year, according to a statement.

It falls within the framework of the constitutional consecration of the language as the official language of the country, the statement said. The king also instructed the prime minister to "take the necessary measures to activate this high royal decree," the statement added. The announcement was made in a statement by the Moroccan Royal Office.
