[HIGHLIGHTS] June 15th is supposed to be “Veterans Day” in Germany

Traffic light factions and the Union want to honor Bundeswehr soldiers in the future. They are now requesting a Veterans Day for this.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz had already spoken out in favor of such a day last year. The date was chosen as a joint compromise by the democratic factions in the Bundestag from a whole range of possible days, said Union faction vice-president Johann Wadephul to the Rheinische Post. The background to the date is that on June 15, 2019, the veteran's badge was presented for the first time.
