Jordan is following news of Israel arresting two armed men after they crossed the border. The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, at dawn on Saturday, that it was following up on reports circulated by Israeli media.

Infiltration incidents are rare between Jordan and Israel, which have had a peace treaty since 1994. On July 31, Tel Aviv announced that 7 people had infiltrated from Jordan into Israel. All were returned to Jordan after declaring a state of emergency in the settlements adjacent to the Jordanian border, coinciding with Israel’s announcement of its thwarting of an arms smuggling operation.
