The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said that the sharp rise in malnutrition rates among children and pregnant and lactating women in the Gaza Strip poses serious threats to their lives. Food supplies and potable water became extremely scarce and infectious diseases spread, affecting the nutrition and immunity of women and children.
UNICEF, the World Food Program and the World Health Organization called for urgent provision of safe, sustainable and unhindered access to multidisciplinary humanitarian assistance throughout Gaza Strip.
