Qatar released 8 former Indian Navy officers after overturning the death sentences issued against them last year. The eight Indian citizens, who were working on a submarine project with a private company for the Qatari authorities, were arrested in 2022.
The Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday, “We appreciate the decision of the Emir of the State of Qatar to allow the release of these citizens and their return to their homeland,” adding that 8 of the accused have returned to India.
