State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov proposed considering the possibility of mandatory introduction of “panic button” technology into taxi cars for communication with the police. A copy of the appeal addressed to the Russian Minister of Transport Vitaly Savelyev is at RT’s disposal.
As the deputy explained, taxi drivers during work can become witnesses and even unwitting accomplices in the offenses and crimes of their passengers. It happens that the life and health of the driver himself may be threatened by an inappropriate or aggressive passenger, he noted.
