The County Administrative Board of Gävleborg wants to increase the degree of self-sufficiency of the crop for preparedness purposes. Rich in iron, calcium and vitamin C, potatoes are well suited to grow in the county's climate.
The Potato Appeal was originally started in 2020 and aims to shine a spotlight on the good qualities of potatoes in times of crisis and war. The county's self- Sufficiency rate of potatoes is 11 percent and through the Potato Appeal we want to highlight the opportunities for increased production and consumption.
