The National Day is celebrated in various parts of Sweden. In Degerhamn in Mörbylånga municipality, they want to pay a little extra attention to the new Swedish citizens.
"You should feel welcome in Sweden," says Carina Adolfsson Elgestam (S), chairman of the municipal executive board. Last year, about 40 people were granted citizenship in the municipality. Rima Liljencrantz fled from Syria to Sweden in 2016, today she lives with her husband in Färjestaden on Öland.
