Armed bandits ransacked several institutions in the Haitian capital on Monday, April 1. Shooting was reported in several places in the country, including the neighborhoods of Delmas in the suburbs of Port-au-Prince.

Clashes broke out between agents of the Haitian national police, armed forces and armed bandits at the Champ de Mars where the presidential palace is located. On the same day, bandits occupied the Haitian State University Hospital, the largest hospital in Haiti, for hours. The hospital is forced to delay its reopening, because it will be necessary to secure the building first.
