French traveler and writer Jean Malory dies aged 101. His son Guillaume told AFP that his father died in the Normandy city of Dieppe.

Malory organized dozens of expeditions to Greenland, as well as to the Arctic regions of Canada, Alaska and Russian Chukotka. In 1992, Malory founded the State Polar Academy in St. Petersburg and became its honorary president for life until the academy was dissolved in 2015. On October 31, 2023, at the age of 77, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-President of theRussian Geographical Society Pyotr Baklanov died.
