The Supreme Control Chamber of Poland suspected ex-Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki of exceeding his powers in the financing of local governments. Losses of local government as a result of the actions of the ex-prime minister were estimated at approximately $1 billion.

In December, the new Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, fired the heads of the country's five intelligence services on his first day in office. Also, according to RMF, Polish intelligence services wiretapped Morawycki when he was prime minister.
