Foreign Ministry: Western educational institutions are contributing to London's subversive work in Russia. The Foreign Ministry imposed retaliatory sanctions against 18 British citizens, among whom were representatives of the scientific and academic community of Britain.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry included British Deputy Defense Minister James Cartlidge on the sanctions list. The sanctions were imposed for participating in the subversive work of London in Russia, the ministry said in a statement. It added that a significant contribution is made by the so-called brain trusts operating on the basis of the largest British and Western institutions.
