The Foreign Ministry imposed retaliatory sanctions against 18 British citizens, among whom were representatives of the scientific and academic community of Britain. As specified, they were included in the list for participating in the subversive work of London in Russia.

“A significant contribution to London’s subversive work in the Russian direction is made by the so-called brain trusts operating on the basis of the largest British and Western educational institutions,” the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry included British Deputy Defense Minister James Cartlidge on the sanctions list.
