In the past year, food prices have increased by 20 percent, according to Statistics Sweden. According to cultivation expert Roy Thellman, this has meant that more people have started growing vegetables at home.

"If you grow in a smart way, you can keep costs down and reduce climate impact," says Roy. He says you should be careful about which crops you choose, as carrots require a large surface area and are cheaper to buy in the store. But tomato gives a lot of return for the money, he says.
