EU to recommend opening of accession talks with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The former Yugoslav republic would become the last Balkan country to be able to begin accession negotiations for entry into the European Union.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said on Tuesday that Bosnia has made more progress in one year than in the last ten years on its path towards membership. The Europeans believe that the opening of negotiations with Bosnia would make it possible to anchor the Balkans even more in Europe.
