Senior EU chief Wim Fransen was reportedly shot after being missing since Sunday evening. Fransen is from Belgium but works in Sudan responsible for humanitarian aid on behalf of the EU.

The EU chief is being treated in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, the New York Times writes. The fighting between the army and the paramilitary group RFS has been going on for four days and is based on the Dar es Salaam region. Last Monday, an Irish EU ambassador was attacked in Sudan, but reportedly felt "okay" after the incident.
