ECCAS lifts its sanctions against Gabon which rejoins the regional body. Six months after the implementation of sanctions, Gabon is therefore reintegrated into regional bodies.

The next step is reintegration into the African Union. ECCAS will send an advocacy mission to the AU and the United Nations to explain the process of readmission of Gabon. The sanctions againstGabon were taken in the wake of the coup d'état of August 30. The suspension was a hard blow for Gabonese diplomacy, isolating the country on the regional scene.
