The E4 just south of Örnsköldsvik is interspersed between Veckefjärden and the old rails. The European road rests on muddy old seabed and has poor bearing capacity.
The Swedish Transport Administration will begin conducting surveys of the land next week to determine which improvement measures are necessary. The improvement work is planned to be carried out in 2027-2028 and will affect traffic on the E4 for the rest of the year and into next year.
