Russian President Vladimir Putin said on January 31 that the demilitarised zone in Ukraine should be at a distance that would ensure the safety of peaceful Russian cities from shelling. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov said the zone should be extended to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
