China welcomes former president of Taiwan to visit “meetings with President Xi” reported. Former Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou is scheduled to visit China's Guangdong and Shaanxi provinces, as well as the capital Beijing, from April 1st to April 11th.
Some Taiwanese media have reported that there will be a meeting between Mr. Ma and President Xi Jinping during his visit, and all eyes are on whether the meeting will actually take place. In Taiwan, Mr. Lai Ching-toku of the Democratic Progressive Party will be inaugurated as the next president in May.
