Gantz recently concluded a two-day visit to Washington, during which he met with a number of American officials. Israeli officials confirmed that the Israeli negotiating delegation will ask the War Council to expand its powers, in order to enable it to overcome obstacles to concluding a prisoner exchange deal. Gantz's tour angered Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who issued an order to the Israeli embassies in Washington and London not to provide assistance to him.
