Cameron (second right) expressed to Gantz Britain's deep concern about the possibility of launching a military attack on Rafah (British government)

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said that he explained to a member of the Israeli war cabinet, Benny Gantz, during talks with him yesterday, Wednesday, in London, the steps that Israel should take to increase aid to the Gaza Strip.

Cameron informed the Israeli minister, who arrived in London after his visit to Washington, that there is no improvement so far in Gaza, and that this must change with an immediate humanitarian truce and expanded aid.

Cameron added that he also expressed - during what he described as difficult but necessary talks with Gantz - Britain's deep concern about the possibility of launching a military attack on Rafah.

For his part, Benny Gantz said - in a tweet on the

Gantz echoed what all Israeli officials have said since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip, that Israel is committed to completing the mission of removing “the threat of Hamas and ending its rule” and implementing this in accordance with international law, expressing his appreciation for what he described as the important British role in fighting the Iranian axis in the Red Sea.

Commenting on Gantz's visit to London, Nihad Abu Ghosh, a researcher and specialist in Israeli affairs, criticized Cameron's statements to Al Jazeera, pointing out that reducing the issue to the issue of humanitarian aid is a simplification and a defect in the most basic components required to preserve the lives of people in the Gaza Strip.

Abu Ghosh pointed out that the basic demand is to stop the war on Gaza, a demand that Israel rejects.

Abu Ghosh added that Britain and America are dealing with Gantz as the next prime minister, according to all opinion polls conducted during the war days and even before the war.

American vision

In a related context, the Hebrew Walla website quoted an Israeli official as saying that Gantz began to realize, after his meetings in Washington, that the Israeli government is in deep trouble regarding the United States’ view of Israel’s responsibility in the Gaza war.

The website pointed out that Israeli officials confirmed that the Israeli negotiating delegation will ask the War Council to expand its powers, in order to enable it to overcome obstacles to concluding a prisoner exchange deal.

Gantz recently concluded a two-day visit to Washington, during which he met with a number of American officials, led by US Vice President Camilla Harris and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

Gantz's tour angered Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who issued an order to the Israeli embassies in Washington and London not to provide assistance to Gantz during his tour.

This prompted Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid to say that the Israeli embassy in the United Kingdom should have immediately rejected Netanyahu's order not to deal with Minister Gantz's security arrangements.

Lapid added that these illegal instructions from an irresponsible prime minister expose a minister and former chief of staff to danger, not to mention embarrassment in front of the British, as he put it.
