Brazil announced on April 4, local time, returning to the Union of South American Nations after four years. The organization was born in 7 with the impetus of Brazil.

In March 2019, eight countries, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay and Peru, signed a declaration announcing the creation of the Forum for the Progress of South America to replace the Union. Argentina announced its formal withdrawal from the Union in April of the same year. Colombia, Brazil and other countries have also announced their withdraw from the alliance.
