[HIGHLIGHTS] Azerbaijan presidential election: incumbent ruling party declares victory

Azerbaijan held a presidential election on the 7th, and the ruling party led by incumbent President Aliyev declared victory. Last year, the former Soviet Union of Azerbaijan won military action against Nagorno-Karabakh, a long-disputed territory with neighboring Armenia.

The exit poll showed that out of the seven candidates, incumbent President Ilham Aliyeva received over 90% of the votes. Based on the results of this election, Mr.Aliyev is expected to further solidify the foundations of his long-term government.
