House of Representatives Speaker Nukaga intends to hold discussions in the Diet once each party has finalized their ideas. So far, the four ruling and opposition parties have compiled written opinions regarding the form of stable succession to the throne.

The Liberal Democratic Party is also continuing discussions at a council chaired by Vice President Aso, and plans to gather opinions soon. The government announced in January last year that there are two ways to secure the number of members of the imperial family: a plan to adopt male lineage males from former imperial families and a plan for female members to remain in the family after marriage.
