The court set a hearing for September 20 to pronounce on the case, in which 79 accused Brotherhood leaders are being tried. Among the most prominent referred to the Grand Mufti are Mohamed El-Beltagy, Amr Zaki, and Osama Yassin.

The case dates back to July 27, 2013, when clashes erupted between protesters and police in Cairo's Rabaa al-Adawiya Square, killing 80 people and injuring more than 300. The court will hold the hearing on September 20, and the case will be tried in absentia.
