Official media reported that Syrian air defenses shot down two drones west of the capital, Damascus, today. Social media accounts close to the Syrian regime reported that Israel carried out air strikes targeting Mezzeh Airport and the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood in Damascus.
Israel rarely confirms the implementation of these strikes, but it reiterates that it will confront what it describes as efforts by Iran to consolidate its military presence in Syria and the region. It is noteworthy that over the past years, Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria.
