After complaints of privacy violations, Airbnb bans surveillance cameras in accommodations. The platform previously allowed cameras in shared rooms, such as corridors or living rooms.

This policy will come into effect on April 30, with rules related to external cameras also being tightened. The company will continue to allow cameras on doorbells and sound intensity measuring devices to protect the privacy of hosts and travelers, according to the company. The policy will be mandatory to announce their presence and location before any reservation confirmation, and they will not be allowed in certain places such as closed outdoor bathrooms or sauna rooms.
