A man in his 30s was shot dead by police on Tuesday after trying to enter a building in south London, allegedly armed with a crossbow. London Metropolitan Police said they responded to a call at 04:55 GMT today from neighbors who claimed that the subject was trying to force their way into the home in the Southwark neighborhood.
The man was given first aid but died at the scene. As always where officers use firearms, the case will be referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct to investigate whether statutory procedures have been followed.
