U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland arrived in Kyiv on January 31.

The official schedule of the State Department did not mention a visit to Kyiv. Some believe the visit is connected with the situation around the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerian Zaluzhny. The decree on Zalzhny's dismissal is expected by the end of the week, according to CNN. The decision to dismiss him was made after the entire top of the army threatened to resign.
