The Ukrainian publication noted that the official schedule of the deputy head of the State Department did not mention a visit to Kyiv. It is noted that after the escalation of the conflict, unexpected visits to Ukraine became the norm for American politicians.
Some Ukrainian experts suggested that Nuland’s visit is connected with the situation around the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny.
“Nuland, as the curator of the Ukrainian direction in the State Department, came to understand who will replace Zaluzhny, what the configuration will be at the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” said political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko.
Earlier, the CNN television channel, citing sources, reported that Zelensky’s decree on Zaluzhny’s dismissal from the post of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is expected by the end of the week.
According to journalist Chey Bose, Zelensky was forced to abandon the decision to dismiss the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the entire top of the army threatened to resign.
Nuland arrived on a visit to Kyiv on January 31.
