Transportation companies in Tokyo are inundated with calls for moving reservations. One call center alone has turned down more than 100 reservations this month.
Some people say they have no choice but to move on their own because of the high costs. Starting next month, overtime hours for truck drivers, which previously had no upper limit, will be capped at 960 hours per year under the 2024 problem. The impact extends beyond moving companies, with major delivery companies announcing price increases one after another in hopes of improving treatment.
