Ghassan Salamé is a former minister in Lebanon, professor of international relations, ex-UN envoy and essayist. Salamé, 72, is a lucid and recognized observer of the Middle East and the state of the world.

He was almost killed in an attack carried out on August 19, 2003, in front of the United Nations offices in Baghdad. He has just published "The temptation of Mars. War and peace in the 21st century" ( Fayard), in which he delivers his vision of the global geopolitical scene.
