A four-year-old girl was stabbed in a supermarket in Wangen im Allgäu on Wednesday. The girl had to undergo emergency surgery in the hospital.
The suspect, a man with Syrian and Dutch citizenship, was arrested and taken to a psychiatric hospital. It is unclear what could have motivated the man to attack the child, police say. The investigation is currently underway and all traces are being evaluated, said police spokeswoman Daniela Baier. Some citizens from Wangen reacted with dismay to the crime.
