René Pollesch has now died at the age of 61. He was considered one of the most prominent German playwrights and theater directors.
Since 2021 he has been director of the Berliner Volksbühne at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. Before taking over the directorship, he had worked at the Volksbuehne himself, and before that he had directed for various theaters. He wrote more than 200 pieces, most of which were short.
