Vaughan Gething is a British politician, born in 1974, who held several positions in the British Welsh provincial government. He was elected leader of the Labor Party in Wales in 2024, becoming the first black political leader in Europe.
Gething insists on recalling his belonging to two contradictory geographical areas that contain a long history of conflict. He says that he is “a Welsh citizen from Zambia,” to summarize a personal biography shaped by two different identities that coexisted.
