USA: Painting lost during World War II returns to Germany. The "Landscape of Italian Character" from the 18th century had been lost since 1939.

Until someone in Chicago claimed that his uncle had brought the picture with him as a soldier. The FBI handed over the artwork to a representative of the Alte Pinakothek in Munich in a short ceremony at the German consulate in Chicago. Together, the two paintings form a panoramic scene depicting shepherds and travelers with their goats, cows, donkeys and sheep at a river ford.
