Unexploded ordnance believed to have been used in the Battle of Okinawa at the end of the Pacific War was found in Ginowan City. Disposal work was carried out in the West Futenma residential area of ​​Ginowan City, which was returned from the US military in 2015.

It measures 11 centimeters in diameter and 42 centimeters in length, and appears to be a naval cannonball fired by the U.S. military during the battle. It is estimated that there are still an estimated 1,878 tons of unexploded Ordnance left in Okinawa Prefecture.
