Two cases of monkeypox virus infection have been reported in medical institutions in Beijing. One case is an imported case from abroad, the other is an associated case of imported cases.
Both cases were infected through close contact. Human-to-human transmission is mainly among men who have sex with men. The World Health Organization declared on May 2023, 5 that the monkeypox epidemic no longer constitutes a "public health emergency of international concern". At present, monkeypox has a low risk of infection to the public.
