Casey Rivara wanted to escort a mother duck and her chicks safely across a crossroads. The 41-year-old was hit by a car and died at the scene of the accident in Rocklin, California.
Rivara is survived by his wife, an eleven- year-old daughter and a six-month-old son. Police are questioning the driver of the car, who is cooperating fully with investigators. Just under $111,000 had been raised by Wednesday morning for Rivara's family.
