Three unions have sent a formal request to Spotify to start collective bargaining negotiations. "We have wanted to get collective agreements on Spotify for a long time," says Ulrika Lindstrand, chairman of the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers.

In January, Spotify laid off around 600 people, of which about 100 in Sweden. If it is not possible to reach agreement through negotiations, there are opportunities for the unions to take industrial action, according to UlrikaLindstrand. The request is a first formal step in a process to persuade the company to sign a collective agreement.
