Today's ruling in class action lawsuit over Minamata disease relief Kumamoto District Court. More than 140 people in Kumamoto, Kagoshima, and other areas have complained.
They are demanding compensation of 4.5 million yen per person from the national government, Kumamoto Prefecture, and Chisso, the company responsible. In September of last year, in the first ruling in a similar classaction lawsuit, the Osaka District Court recognized all the plaintiffs as having MinamATA disease.
