SPIEGEL reporter Timofey Neshitov teaches German at an adult education center in Berlin. He learned the language at the end of his puberty when he wanted to read Heinrich Böll's original Letters from the war.

He now teaches German to refugees at the center, who are mostly from Turkey, Guinea, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan. The course is funded by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (FOMR) and the state usually pays for it. The FOMR says it is proud of these courses in Berlin, which it has funded for years.
