They discover a black hole with the fastest and brightest quasar ever seen. The black hole of this record-breaking quasar is so voracious that it increases its mass by the equivalent of one Sun per day.

The matter attracted to this disk-shaped black hole emits so much energy that J0529-4351 is more than 500 billion times more luminous than the Sun. "It must be the largest accretion disk in the universe," concludes Samuel Lai, ANU PhD student.
