Since May 2022, influenza activity in southern provinces of China has once again shown a continuous upward trend. The second wave of the new crown epidemic in 2023 in the country is mainly caused by the Omicron XBB series strain.

Experts further said that this year, the southern provinces are expected to enter the summer high season around the end of May/early June, and the possibility of H5N6 subtypes high at present. Co-epidemics may occur, but the available evidence does not reveal a high prevalence phenomenon.
