The Kach movement was founded by Rabbi Meir Kahane in 1971 in Israel. It sought to establish a pure Jewish state on the land of Palestine.

Among its most prominent members is Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir. The movement succeeded in obtaining a seat in the Israeli Knesset, with the right-wing Likud Party rising to power in 1977. But it was soon banned from the Knesseset and included on the terrorist lists in 1994. It was born out of the “Jewish Defense League,” which was founded in the United States of America in 1968.
