Khalifa Sall, candidate of the Taxawu Senegal party for the Senegalese presidential election scheduled for February 25, gave an interview to France 24 and RFI. Ousmane Sonko, central figure in a standoff of more than two years with the State which gave rise to several episodes of deadly unrest, did not appear on the final list of presidential candidates.

Also absent is the opponent Karim Wade, son and minister of ex-president Abdoulaye Wade (2000-2012), whose candidacy was deemed "inadmissible"
