The French Government is considering fining patients who miss a medical appointment 5 euros. The Prime Minister of France, Gabriel Attal, announced that he hopes to launch a system in 2025.

The measure, if approved, will be executed with a charge on the patient's bank card, who will have to have previously left their data with the doctor. According to data from the French College of Doctors, the annual cost of those who miss appointments without prior notice is 27 million euros. If approved, the fine could come into force on January 1, 2025.
